Some Thoughts

1. For the first time, the number of volumes on my book wishlist is consistently higher than that on my unread books list. I can't quite decide whether that's a good sign or a bad sign, as far as the book-buying addiction goes.

2. The oral surgeon gave me an itemized cost list for my wisdom tooth extraction. My lower teeth, which are partially below the gum, each cost $11 more to remove than my upper teeth do. I don't know why, but for some reason that figure amuses me ridiculously.

3. It still feels like these thoughts ought to come in threes.

[ETA: Apparently I read or remembered it wrong. The amount is actually $21, not $11. Which is a pity. Somehow, $11 is a much funnier number.]

  1. 1. I thought I might want to borrow some of those books on your wishlist, should you ever get them.

    2. Then I saw that I was looking at just the first 50 of 432 books. Argh!

    3. Consistently higher, but not significantly higher. (Ha! I got three this time!)

  3. 1) Delete the list.. you can do it.. they are only book... ah crap I can't say that..

    2) I think that it has to do with very very rare complications with the lower jaw which makes them $11 more expensive on what the doctor has to pay for insurance.

    3) You will most likely have a lot better health after the wisdom teeth are out. The wisdom teeth when they grow in funny create pockets which are great big bacteria and virus traps.

    4) Make sure you go in after 6 months to get a full mouth x-ray to see that the bone is healing (I didn't do this as I thought it was a waste of time... 16 years later I have had to do some extra surgery because of that mistake..) but on the other hand the Dr is pretty sure my constant colds for the last couple of years will be over.

  4. 1) Bite your tongue!

    2) That might be, although on the list, the distinction is "soft tissue impacted" vs. "fully erupted." (Or something like that. I don't remember the exact phrasing of the latter, but I'm pretty sure the word "erupted" was in there somewhere.) So I was figuring the $11 was for the extra work of cutting them out.

    3) Yeah, that's why I have to have them out. I've had zero problems with them so far, but my dentist thinks one of the lower teeth is "a cyst waiting to happen."

    4) Wow. I will keep that in mind. Yay for the probable lack of colds, though, however belated!

  5. Yeah that will be the tooth area to make sure they check at least 6 months out and probably a year later. I wish I had done it.. as it uhm grew into quite a big cyst. But enough gross things.. hope you do well. Maybe we can send you some book recovery books while you rest?

  7. A book about an addiction to books? Oh, that's vicious.

  8. I know! It has the words "national bestseller!" on the cover, and I remember thinking, whoa, there are that many bookoholics in the world? But then I realized, that, no, it's just that every single one of us bought at least one copy. We just can't help ourselves. :)
