How Much Is That In Gold-Pressed Latinum?

It would be, like, horribly frivolous and irresponsible of me to spend $255 on the complete Deep Space 9 boxed set, wouldn't it? Even if that is an excellent sale price? Aargh, I am seriously tempted, anyway.

By comparison, the remastered Original Series boxed set seems downright affordable...

Damn this science fictional monkey on my back!

  1. Well, it's only about $36 a season...

  2. I know! Last time I checked, individual seasons were selling for something like $100... which is the reason I don't already own DS9 on DVD.

Man, you really can't beat that for a bargain. (Well, OK, unless you count that 10-season Stargate SG1 set I snagged for $99 a while back.)

Aaargh. Will power... slipping. Especially as I don't have a mortgage payment due on this paycheck... :)

  3. $100? Amazon's showing a list price of $69.98 for each individual season. They're offering each for $36.99. I don't know if that's a special, limited deal, but forty bucks is much more reasonable than seventy. So I don't think $255 is cheap; I think it's just not as ridiculously expensive as their combined list price.

  4. Well, the last time I checked was a few years ago.

And I think all the individual seasons are on sale at the moment, too.

  5. No, it's not frivolous - in fact, it's your duty as a fanatic to get this most important boxed set! ;)

  6. Oh, well, in that case... :)

  7. Just think of it as buying bananas for that monkey on your back.

  8. That's not a monkey, that's the Librarian! (Which night explain your love of books.)

  9. I kind of doubt I'd still be alive if I called the Librarian a monkey. :)

  10. Lucky that you didn't then. Mind you, I doubt that you'd be alive if you were carrying an orang-utan on your back. :) (Or is he a gorilla? My memory is getting worse and worse.)

  11. He's definitely an orangutan. :)

  12. Isn`t it that gorilla that you used to put money into?

  13. What do you mean, "used to"? I still have that thing! :)
