And Speaking of Stargate...

Apparently SG-1's just been cancelled. Is it horrible of me that my immediate reaction was something like, "Oh, cool, that'll mean I actually will be able to catch up on all of it on DVD"? It is, isn't it? I'm going to the Fannish Hell now and spend eternity with the NBC execs who put Star Trek in the Friday night timeslot.

  1. The timing is absolutely horrible!!!! I thought the SciFi channel finally pulled it's head out of its ass and then this!! I'm not saying it was the best show ever, but to show the 200th episode and the happy behind the scenes special. Then like 3 days later---announce it's cancelled---I guess it was better after than before :) but couldn't they have waited another month?

  2. I never liked the show and don't understand how it lasted this long. However, I do feel bad for Ben Browder and Claudia Black.

  3. Kathy: Sci Fi has pulled its head out of its ass and then promptly stuck it back up there so many times that... Actually, you know what? I'm not going to complete that metaphor. :)

And as for the timing, man, I know a lot of Farscape fans with a strong sense of deja vu.

Magnus: I've only seen a few episodes and found them watchable but not terribly impressive. Friends who are big fans of the show tell me that the way to get a lot of enjoyment out of it is, you don't watch it for the plots, you watch it for the character-based humor. Which sounds good to me, and I am planning on giving it a shot on DVD.

And, yeah, poor Claudia and Ben. They've got, like, the Kiss of Sci Fi Death on them.

  4. Personally, I've usually enjoyed both the plots and character-based humor. But everyone's mileages may vary. I just find the news very surprising and the Sci-Fi Channel's reasoning, while plausible, still extrememly shaky (per usual).

Browder's been good, even when it was clear they weren't always sure what to do with the character, but it's Claudia Black who's been something of a revelation. She's really been terrific as Vala.
