Speaking of The Lack of Good SF TV Shows These Days...
OK, here's a news story that's simultaneously hilarious, stupid, and kinda sad. Apparently Activision, the game company that holds the rights to make Star Trek videogames, is suing Viacom for not keeping up the Star Trek franchise, given that there are no plans for a new movie after Nemesis and that Enterprise kind of sucks. (OK, they didn't actually say that last part, but I get the feeling that it's sort of implied.) The general gist seems to be that, since Trek is declining in popularity, Activision wants out. Quote: "'Through its actions and inactions, Viacom has let the once-proud Star Trek franchise stagnate and decay,' Activision said in a statement." Ouch. True on an unfortunate number of levels, but... ouch.
