WTF Comcast?!

OK, I am all kinds of confused. I went to watch House, which should have been happily recording on channel 2 (aka KASA Fox 2), only to discover that apparently it had been replaced by some other station entirely, and House had magically morphed into some iteration or other of Law and Order. All other stations seem to be where they're supposed to be, except for KWBQ (CW), which has apparently just gone dark. Well, that and apparently I recorded a bunch of blackness earlier when I should have been recording Jeopardy! on KRQE (CBS), although that looks OK now. I tried updating my Tivo's channel list, but, no, as far as it -- or the information it's getting from Comcast -- is concerned, nothing seems to have changed.

I'd maybe assume it has something to do with this, but I cannot for the life of me see how, since a) I don't have Dish Network, b) apparently they fixed that, and c) everything was fine and normal last week.

So, again, I say, WTF, Comcast?! You owe me a goddamned episode of House!

  2. I'm going to call them tomorrow and ask them WTF.

And, goddamn it, if I have to go to all the bother of switching to a dish system just to get goddamned Fox, I am going to be so pissed.

  3. Do you receive your TV via an aerial? If so, could the high wind that you mentioned in your previous post have shifted its orientation so that it's now pointing at a different transmitter, and could that account for the symptoms you are experiencing?

  4. I think Comcast likes annoying its customers by randomly changing their channel lineup. They did it once to me but didn't bother sending any announcement with the bill -- although they did mail me one, after I phoned to complain.

  5. JH: An aerial? What is this thing of which you speak? An aerial gets you two stations here. Ironically, one of them is Fox.

Captain C: But they removed a basic station! And then lied to my Tivo about it! Who does that?

  6. Oh yeah. House is still on. I forget sometimes.

  7. I may wonder about some of its plot/character developments, but I am still enjoying it.

  8. I gave up on the show early this season, finding it still pretty powerfully acted most of the time and even effectively written, but really, really dumb about its characters overall. But that's another matter. I genuinely forget it's on since I rely so heavily on Hulu, Netflix, and other online venues to watch television these days.

  9. I can count on my fingers the number of shows I watch as they actually air. Heck, at any given time, I can count them on one hand. But House happens to be one of them. Which means that a high percentage of what I'm actually paying for the goddamned cable for just vanished. Grrr.

  10. Oh, and by the way, Kathy... If I seemed distracted on the phone last night, this is why. I was in the middle of being all, "WTF, Comcast?!" when you called me back. :)
