My Parents Used To Do The Same Thing With Us And The Dog.

Here's another way you can tell when you've got too many cats: I've started calling them by the wrong names, especially when I want to yell at them. I keep yelling "Vir!" at Mickey, and "Mickey!" at Vir. Possibly because those are the two who get yelled at most, but the fact that they're close to the same color no doubt adds to the confusion in my brain. I'm thinking maybe I ought to dye one of them pink. (Or possibly just accept the fact that this really is too many cats, which may well yet happen.)

  2. They should be easy to tell apart. After all, Mickey is a kitty and Vir is Humongocat. However, since Vir scratched your cornea, I think it's part of a long-term scheme to impair your vision, then subconsciously convince you that you need another cat in the house, one with the same coloring, so he can act up and the kitten will get the blame.

  3. Possibly, although if so, it's backfiring, as I am now almost sure that I unfairly stuck him with the rap for scratching Mickey's eye. That was probably Happiness, and he probably deserved it.

  4. Heh. I've done it with mine before now. It *still* occasionally happens, even now there's only Muffin left.
