Swiftly Now...

Wow, so, there are just over 24 hours left in this year.[*] The end of 2009 really did sort of sneak up on me. First it was Christmas, and then I spent four days working and sleeping and complaining, and then, bam! suddenly 2009 is rushing out the door already, before I can properly take stock of it.

Not that there's much to take stock of, really. It's been a remarkably uneventful year for me, and I'm not sure there's much of anything worth remembering about it. Which is probably a good thing. I mean, any year that doesn't go down as The Year My House Was Demolished in an Earthquake or The Year I Was Diagnosed with Cancer of the Face is a good year, in my opinion.

Next year, of course, will be The Year We Make Contact, so I'll be looking forward to that.

[*] In my year, that is. Your timezone may vary. And, heck, for all I know, you're reading this three weeks from now, anyway. Hello, person from the future!

  2. hahahahaha You are crazy! But don't jinx it there are still a few hours left for all that bad stuff to happen.

With husband and child gone to the in-laws here is how I am spending my evening:I have consumed a gigantic bowl of real popcorn(not microwaved) which I had thoroughly drenched in butter and salt while watching the trashiest TV programs known to man and drinking hot chocolate. I have the heat cranked way way up and after this computer break I plan on eating an entire bag of chips with salsa I purchased on the way home from work while watching a basketball game I taped earlier. If I am not either sick to my stomach, asleep, or both after that I'm going to watch a couple of episodes of some British TV like Blake's 7 or Doctor Who or Red Dwarf or other. Hubby tried to equate Blake's 7 and Doctor Who as being the same type of thing. I explained that the only thing these two shows have in common is they are British science fiction shows!! Maybe I have had too much wine, just kidding. Happy New Year.

  3. *looks around nervously for earthquakes*

And that sounds remarkably like my New Year's Eve, actually, except that a little while ago, I was eating too much pizza and watching The Avengers. Yay for British television!

Blake's 7 and Doctor Who are very different in tone (usually), but they do have a few things in common. Lots of the same people worked on them, both in front of and behind the cameras, if nothing else.

    Oh, and happy new year!
