I Never Thought I'd See the Day.
Color me... stunned. Apparently the Sci Fi Channel has made the first episode of Battlestar Galactica available on their website. Uncut. Commercial-free. At no charge. Legally. (Oh, and they've got deleted scenes, too!) OK, I'm not quite ready to say, "Thank you, Skiffy, all is forgiven," but, damn that's a classy thing to do, especially given the current (and in my opinion entirely unreasonable) hysteria over the idea that things being available for free on the web is somehow going to destroy the economy and our precious way of life or something.
If you ask me, it's not a bad idea for them from a practical standpoint, either. More people who have the opportunity to catch up on episodes they've missed means more people who might be willing to tune in next week. Right? Oh, man, wouldn't it be great if this sort of thing really caught on?
(By the way, the episode itself is a really good piece of television, and I heartily recommend watching it.)
