So Help Me, This Is Almost Starting to Become Routine...
Well, after last night's rain (which wasn't as heavy as the storm we had a couple of weeks ago that started it all, but considerably longer in duration), the entire trailer park is pretty much one great big lake (as opposed to many smaller, disconnected lakes like it was last time). The fire department was out there bright and early with their big pumping machine, though, so their response time is definitely getting better. Of course, one consequence of that is that, ironically, I am now also up bright and early, on the one day this week that I don't have to be in to work. That machine is loud.
What's really kind of bugging me right now is the thought that I'm obviously going to have to get the roof fixed ASAP, because "leak" is too small a word for what's happening in the kitchen ("hull breach" is probably more like it). But how can I reasonably expect to get somebody out here to repair the roof when the whole damned place is under water? I mean, you couldn't even plant a ladder to climb up onto the roof without it sinking into the mud or, perhaps more likely, slipping out from under you. I wouldn't want to try it. Which is annoying, because, now that I think about it, I'd kind of like to get up there and inspect the damage.
Sigh. Well, I'm planning on going up to Albuquerque today, once I get enough caffeine in me to be able to drive (which may be quite some time). With luck, maybe by then I'll actually be able to get my car out of this place without the aid of a ferry.
