Because Deborah's Right, I Can't Resist: Monday Memories
Did you ever fall down, either badly or not, but have feelings of some sort, pain, embarrassment, fear, whatever, totally overwhelm you? Tell us about falling down, or up.. or walking into a pole... Hmm. Well, here's the most painful fall I can remember: My ex-boyfriend's family had a lake on their property, and in the winter they had this home-grown game they liked to play on the frozen lake. Sort of like hockey -- or maybe curling, I dunno -- but everybody just slid around on their sneakers instead of wearing ice skates (which was fine by me, because I can't ice skate to save my life). Anyway, even though I normally loathe team sports of pretty much any variety, they did get me to play, and I was actually enjoying myself. Until I got a little too enthusiastic going after whatever it was we were using for a puck, and my feet slid right out from under me. I cracked my head but good. I remember actually seeing stars and thinking, "Wow, I always thought that was just an expression!" It hurt like hell, but I think I escaped without any brain damage. [Twitch, mutter, gibber, twitch.]
