I Want My TV.

God damn it, Heroes is finally just starting to get really, really good again, and now there's only two more episodes. Just give the damned writers some money, already! Cheapasses.

And apparently things are getting ugly enough that we might not ever get to see the end of Battlestar Galactica, either. It's enough to make a fangirl cry.

  1. I feel like I should care more about Battlestar Galactica than I do. I'm not one of those people who hated last season. But I'm also having trouble working up the excitement about seeing the last. (Much less Razor.)

But that's all neither here nor there, really, when the alternative is non-stop "reality" shows and screwing the writers over.

  2. Don't say that.
    Please don't say that.
It's one of 3 show I actually watch.
It'd be so sad to not see it end properly...like Firefly just drifting off...

  3. Fred: While I enjoy BSG, I'm not nearly as captivated by it as by other shows I could name (and probably you could too :)). And my enthusiasm for it has waned a bit in the past season. So it's not that I'd be heartbroken to lose it, as such. What I can't stand, though, is being denied the end of a story, particularly one I've invested time and interest in.

Geosomin: I'll keep my fingers crossed...

  4. I think a lot of my ho-hum attitude lately towards BSG has to do with long delays between seasons, missed episodes, etc. Absence doesn't always make the heart grow fonder. But you're absolutely right: to be denied the end of the story because of the writer's strike would be very annoying.

All the more reason to support the WGA and suggest to the AMPTP that ending it is in their best interests.

Speaking of other shows we both could name, have you seen the Children in Need special?

  5. Yeah, the long delays, etc., really don't help. Sadly, that seems to be business as usual for Sci-Fi, who often seem to me to be actively trying to make viewers lose interest in programs they'd normally be happy to keep right on watching. But that's an old rant, and everybody's heard it by now, I'm sure. :)

Absolutely. I've been pleased to see, by the way, that large communities of fans, of various shows, have been rallying around to support the writers. People who appreciate good storytelling know who it comes from. :)

And, yes, I have seen the CiN special! I thought it was adorable. I mean, I could nitpick it if I wanted to, but I don't want to, because it was adorable. :) I assume you've seen it as well, yes? What did you think?

  6. If it was an actual episode, I might have been tempted to nitpick. But, as it was, I also thought the special was adorable. Incredibly sweet, wonderfully silly. David Tennant's clear joy and enthusiasm was so infectious -- which I think, in large part, is what makes him such a terrific Doctor: the man is such an unapologetic fanboy.

Suddenly me also watching the Doctor Who Confidential on the special doesn't seem so bad. Although I think I'd also quite like to watch some Davison episodes now...

  7. Agreed about David Tennant. In spades. :)

And, hey, I watched the Confidential. It was worth it just for Tennant saying that if you'd told his eleven-year-old self what he'd be doing today, he'd just have melted. Adorable fanboy, indeed. :)

And you should most definitely watch some Davison eps! He's something of a love-him-or-hate-him Doctor, but I'm firmly on the love side, and I think he got some of the best scripts the show ever had.

  8. And not many other people can carry off a decorative vegetable, so there's that in his favor...

  9. There is! I love the celery. And it even has plot relevance, ultimately. Sort of. :)

  10. Speaking of TV?
Has the new TV BSG movie played on the sci fi channel down there yet?
It's on this weekend here...and I'll be away. AND my DVD recorder is acting wierd so I'm worried it may not be there when I get back.
I'm just trying to ask about if anyone has recorded/will record it...as I may need to suck up to any/all of you if my player cacks out.
It keeps trying to go to a built in TVGuide feature which doens't let you record in Canada. VERY annoying.
So...just wondering if you will be recording it...I'd feel a bir more at ease heading away for the weekend.

  11. It's on here tomorrow. I've double-checked that my TiVo is get up to grab. I'll make sure not to delete it after I've watched, and if it turns out you do need a copy, it'll be easy enough to transfer it to a tape. So I can be a backup for ya. :)

That doesn't make it any less true. :)
