But The Fate Of The Universe May Be At Stake!

I'm trying to convince myself that the fact that I'm having trouble finding some of the BBC Eighth Doctor books, now that I'm within a dozen or so books of finishing the series, does not, in fact, actually constitute an emergency. I'm having a little trouble doing it, though.

Sometimes I worry a little bit about my sense of priorities.

  3. I'm not sure anybody knows yet when it'll be back. So far the new season hasn't started up in the UK yet. It'll start airing there sometime in the spring, so presumably the US will get it sometime after that. It's been doing very well for Sci-Fi, so it's fairly certain they will bring it back on a timely basis... Oh, wait, what am I saying? This is Sci-Fi we're talking about. :)

  4. It's not impossible. My husband is in themidst of tracking down the final 5 he doesn't have...they're hard to find, but not impossible. He would class it as an emergency...me I"m not so concerned. Don't bother with Amazon though. I've been waiting for an order from them for over a year with 4 of the last 8th docot books on it...I'm not holding my breath.

  5. Hey, he'd better not steal any copies out from under me! :)

I mostly stopped trying to order them from Amazon, myself, after the same thing happened to me a couple of times: they'd send delay notice after delay notice and finally cancel the order. One of the books I still need, though, the only place I've been able to find it is on Amazaon.co.uk, and they have it labelled as available in "4 to 6 weeks," which I'm pretty sure is Amazonian code for "We don't have it, either, but if you give us a month or two, maybe it'll turn up."

It's odd, though, because up until now, I've always been able to find reasonably-priced copies of all of them by looking on alibris.com. And now, suddenly, some of the ones I still need are showing up for, like, $50, or not showing up at all. Was there a sudden surge in demand for these things?
