More Cool Links

It's amazing the stuff that turns up when I start sorting through the archeological layers of my bookmarks file... Here's some more links to amuse, entertain, and probably frighten you:

Book-A-Minute: Classics, SF novels, and bedtime stories, ultra-condensed into a few humorous sentences.

The Tolkien Sarcasm Page: Links to lots of Tolkien-related humor and fun stuff. The Lego version of Lord of the Rings is particularly worth checking out.

Godawful Fan Fiction: A lot of fan fiction is written by intelligent, creative people who do an excellent job of capturing the spirit of the shows they're writing for. This isn't it. This stuff has been known to cause brain hemorrhages. Oh, and a lot of it's smutty. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Daleks!: Another incredibly addictive little game. You don't have to be a Doctor Who fan to play, but you'll be even more entertained if you are.

Twenty Questions: Play the classic game of 20 Questions against a computer program. It tends to ask really goofy questions, but it makes eerily good guesses.

The Magic Lighthouse: Takes you to a random website. This one's for when you're really, really bored.

Mystery USEnet Theater 3000: Some guy does the MST3K treatment on his spam e-mails. Pretty funny.

So You've Decided to be Evil: A primer on what to do after you've decided to turn to the Dark Side. Includes stuff like "Locations for Your Lair" and the "Evil Henchmen Guide."

Qulture.net: More online quizzes than you can shake a stick at.

Henry Jenkins' website: This guy gets paid to study pop culture. I wish I'd thought of that. It'd be cool to go to SF conventions and claim them as a tax write-off. Check out his Congressional testimony on kids and media violence; it's extremely good.

The Institute of Offical Cheer: "Where the past comes to life -- so we can promptly beat it to death again." Includes such interesting features as "The Gallery of Regrettable Food" and "The Orphanage of Cast-Off Mascots." This site also features an extremely good personal blog page, The Bleat.

Six Billion Human Beings: A serious site about world population that, refreshingly, is neither alarmist nor blindly optimistic. Very cool interactive interface that's kinda fun to play with.

TeeVee: Reviews and articles by people who watch way too much television.

Sev Trek: Nifty cartoon parodies of Star Trek and other SF movies/shows. Enter the caption contest for your chance at fame and recognition!

Farscape Weekly: Weekly ezine devoted to that TV show I'm always going on about.

Cooking with High Voltage: Don't try this at home, kids!
