I'll Try Not To Do That, Then.

What are your chances of surviving a 100 foot fall?

  1. Hmmm I have a 23% chance of surviving. That's 10% better than you :P

  2. It's probably because you weigh, like, half as much as me. :)

  3. I`m 10% too. I think thats because I`m an old fogey.

  4. 10% here also -- old fogeys [or is that fogies?] represent!...

  5. Once again, I find fault with the quiz. They didn't offer the option for those of us who weigh between 190 and 200 lbs.

Did Galileo get it all wrong in his famous experiment, then? :) Admittedly air resistance will have more effect in slowing a lighter person, but I wouldn't think that the effect would be that great over a hundred feet. Since a fatter person will be rather more padded, I'd have thought their chances of survival might actually be higher.

  7. Well, I was thinking that when I hit, the mass of all my cheeseburger-induced blubber is gonna slam into my internal organs at high speed, and I'm gonna be caught between a rock and a fat place, so to speak. But on reflection, that's probably a trivial matter compared to the ground slamming into me at high speed, and may very well be canceled out by the padding effects.

I'd be very interested to know what the "best" answers for that quiz are.
