Looks like the UK start date for the new season (excuse me, series) of Doctor Who will be April 5.
Woo-hoo! (Or, perhaps, Woo-Who!)

Random wibblings of an insane science fiction fan
Yeah! More wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey stuff!
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to find out when the CBC is going to air it, but the stupid website won't load
ReplyDeleteI had a dream this morning about the background of Winnie the Pooh. Then I started thinking (brushing one's teeth will do that to a person)...
ReplyDeleteI think Doctor Who would absolutely adore Winnie the Pooh (at least, Tennant's Who would). Think of it: a wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey Time Lord meeting a willy-nilly silly old bear.
WTP is fictional, but perhaps that could be explained by a wormhole in space/time through which A.A. Milne saw real events. Then the Doctor could visit said planet and meet the real Pooh.
Or, maybe, the Doctor could meet a little boy looking at the bear exhibit in the Winnipeg zoo and tell him a story. Then the boy could tell his daddy, who writes it down -- or the Doctor (or his companion) is hired as a nanny for young Christopher Robin. (I'm sure there's enough biographical information out there for the show's writers to make this more-or-less realistic.)
Rose was kind of childlike, so she would get on well with young C.R. On the other hand, Martha is just as sensitive as she is practical, so she could care for the young boy while still keeping an eye out for danger.
Oh, Lord, if I think of any more of these, I could write an entire season (sorry, "series") of the show.
Hee. You are so One of Us now. :) And, y'know, Tennant's Doctor would fit in with Winnie-the-Pooh well enough to be kind of scary. There's also little doubt in my mind that those books can be found on the Doctor's copious bookshelves somewhere.
ReplyDeleteOh, and actually... If you want a Doctor Who/Pooh crossover (of a rather different sort), such a thing does exist!
"Doctor Pooh" -- ROTFL!
ReplyDeleteI thought you might appreciate that. :)
ReplyDeletePlus, I can imagine the typical "throwaway" comment from the Doctor at the end of the episode -- the type of thing (like his Arthur Dent comment) that makes you wonder what he really meant -- something like, "Nice bear. Very intelligent, I thought."
ReplyDeleteNow confirmed that the new series will start on 5th April, at 6:20pm UK time (which will be GMT+1 by then).
ReplyDeleteAnd here I was just getting used to it being a six hour time difference from me. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update!
I had a joke about Doctor Pooh years ago before Series 1 actually aired here. I tried to get a sketch going of Pooh and his companion, Piglet, outside the TARDIS. I used it to annoy my Whovian friend Gavin. I didn't mean it to annoy, but since he took it that way...
ReplyDeleteI think we have to wait for bloody hockey to finish before they will air Doctor Who. CBC's biggest money maker is the NHL.
