Okey-dokey! I seem to have fixed the problem with the archive links... It looks like the issue was due to an out-of-date tag in my template, just in case anybody is actually interested in the technical details. The old code apparently worked just fine everywhere except on the individual post pages, which probably explains why they changed it (presumably when they set up the ability to do individual post pages) and why I never noticed it until I enabled said pages in order to allow comments.
The other thing I've just done is played around with font sizes a bit more, so that comments don't appear in much bigger text than the actual post they way they did before.
I think I'm done fiddling for the moment. Again, let me know if you find anything that looks broken.
