Random wibblings of an insane science fiction fan
There are people entering college now who were not alive for any of the '80s. This feels deeply wrong.
ReplyDeleteAt the same time, my feeling that it's wrong feels sadly predictable.
Yeah, I'm with you on both points.
ReplyDeleteAbandon hope, all ye who remember Dondi and Henry.
ReplyDeleteI shouldn't talk, though. My parents talked of Alley Oop and Barney Google.

Not know Opus?
ReplyDeleteThat's umpossible...
That's what I thought! But she had "cartoon penguin" as a clue for a crossword, and when I supplied Opus, she looked at me utterly blankly. And the more I tried to explain, the blanker she looked.
ReplyDeleteSigh. Kids today, they just don't know the classics...
Ah! The classics.. I can remember back to about 1950. In the 80`s I was in my 40`s. Oh, you of youngness remember as much as you can and stay aware of what is happening around you.
ReplyDeleteHmm? Is Breathed's new strip "Opus" still running?
ReplyDeleteI guess it is. It's not in the paper here. Which I don't read anyway.
ReplyDeleteThe Sunday Albuquerque Journal still carries it.
ReplyDeleteAh, OK. I haven't looked at a Sunday Journal in ages. I occasionally glance at a weekday one, and I knew they didn't have it.
