Things That Make Me Feel Depressingly Old, #73:

Discovering that my co-worker has never heard of Bloom County, having apparently been far too young during the 80s to be aware of its existence.

As Bill the Cat would say: Ack!

  1. There are people entering college now who were not alive for any of the '80s. This feels deeply wrong.

At the same time, my feeling that it's wrong feels sadly predictable.

  3. Abandon hope, all ye who remember Dondi and Henry.

I shouldn't talk, though. My parents talked of Alley Oop and Barney Google.

  6. That's what I thought! But she had "cartoon penguin" as a clue for a crossword, and when I supplied Opus, she looked at me utterly blankly. And the more I tried to explain, the blanker she looked.

Sigh. Kids today, they just don't know the classics...

  7. Ah! The classics.. I can remember back to about 1950. In the 80`s I was in my 40`s. Oh, you of youngness remember as much as you can and stay aware of what is happening around you.

  9. I guess it is. It's not in the paper here. Which I don't read anyway.

  11. Ah, OK. I haven't looked at a Sunday Journal in ages. I occasionally glance at a weekday one, and I knew they didn't have it.
