Some thoughts:
This is maybe the third time in the past few months that I've seen a reference to an awesome-sounding super-bookish character on Gilmore Girls. I am now wondering whether I need to watch this show.
And I can confirm that I have, in fact, brought a book to a party. In fact, I do bring a book everywhere, and it befuddles me that the author of this piece seems to think that there's something wrong or embarrassing about that.

Gilmore Girls is great and highly recommended! Well, most of it. The creators left in the last season, taking with them the show's strong voice, and I've actually never yet finished watching it. But it's a lot of fun, snappy dialogue and lots of it, and Rory definitely does always have a book with her.
ReplyDeleteIt's sad, how many shows suffer badly from a change of production regime. Still, it sounds like this is one I'm definitely going to have to add to the ever-growing Netflix queue.
DeleteYou know I'm not a big fan of TV writing overall, so I look askance at a TV writer's viewpoint of a consummate reader, but if the writer actually acknowledges that there are people who aren't addicted to electronic screens, maybe there's hope.
