I could get it, but I think that would involve paying a lot more for only one channel that I'm actually interested in, and I just can't quite see doing that.)Bettyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06403255764384760662noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3432116.post-77944637442873340832010-03-19T15:55:23.611-06:002010-03-19T15:55:23.611-06:00I was hoping that might be the answer. :-) I'l...I was hoping that might be the answer. :-) I'll look forward to hearing what you think. I can't quite decide if it's an absurd concept or an audaciously brilliant one... Probably both, really. It does something science fiction never really dares to do, for very good reason: shows you incomprehensible alien characters doing incomprehensible alien things for incomprehensible alien reasons. Part of me thinks that's an incredibly dumb idea for a TV show, but part of me is damned impressed by it. Also impressive are the show's ability to achieve a remarkably creepy atmosphere on a budget that makes Classic Who look ritzy, its surprising -- and surprisingly awesome -- ending, and, yes, McCallum and Lumley, who are terrific in their parts and have marvelous chemistry, to boot.

Ultimately, watching it is deeply WTF-ish experience, and it's definitely not going to be for everybody, but I have to say I ended up enjoying it quite a lot, almost in spite of myself. :)Bettyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06403255764384760662noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3432116.post-20740818229003384222010-03-19T14:27:03.469-06:002010-03-19T14:27:03.469-06:00From the little of it I've seen -- maybe half ...From the little of it I've seen -- maybe half of the first serial -- I'd say "bizarrely compelling" is probably accurate. It seems like an interesting, albeit ultimately kind of ridiculous concept, uplifted largely by McCallum and Lumley's performances.Fredhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00277636954260900156noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3432116.post-35541240552068104062010-03-19T09:50:47.659-06:002010-03-19T09:50:47.659-06:00Captain C: It's nice to know people care. :)
